Building self-leadership through nervous system regulation.

Our Story

AEQUUS was founded on a simple belief:

People cannot consistently lead themselves effectively without first understanding themselves.

By combining nervous system regulation, trauma-informed practice and self-leadership principles, Aequus creates practical frameworks that help people understand their internal world and create meaningful change.

Our work sits at the intersection of personal development, workplace performance and human behaviour.

Why We Exist

Traditional development focuses on skills, knowledge and behaviour. But when pressure rises, performance is shaped by something deeper: how the nervous system responds. AEQUUS was founded to close that gap.

Meet Corey

Founder of Aequus and Creator of the CALM Framework™

AEQUUS was founded from a question that has shaped both my personal and professional journey:

What happens when people learn to survive, but never learn how to truly lead themselves?

Throughout my life, I became deeply aware of the ways people adapt to their environments, how experiences shape the way we think, respond, communicate and relate to ourselves and others.

Before founding AEQUUS, I spent years working alongside senior executives in high-pressure corporate environments, where I gained a firsthand understanding of what drives performance, decision-making and behaviour when expectations are high and the impact that pressure, stress and unseen patterns can have on how people think, communicate and lead themselves and others.

My own lived experience as a child of an alcoholic shaped a deeper understanding of survival responses and the ways people adapt to challenging environments. This led me to explore the connection between nervous system regulation, self-awareness and how we show up in the world, combining this with training in trauma-informed practice, mind-body approaches and behavioural change.

It was only through understanding these patterns that I realised something important:

Many of the behaviours we judge ourselves for are often adaptations we developed to protect ourselves.

Understanding this changed the way I viewed myself, and it changed the way I understood human behaviour.

What Sets Us Apart

Corporate insight meets human understanding

AEQUUS combines years of experience working alongside senior executives with expertise in trauma-informed practice, nervous system regulation and human behaviour. This unique perspective helps organisations understand not just what people do under pressure, but why.

Built around the CALM Framework

The CALM Framework is the foundation of every AEQUUS solution. It provides a practical pathway for understanding how people respond under pressure and developing the self-leadership needed for sustainable high performance.

A different approach to development

Most personal development focuses on mindset or behaviour. We focus on what sits beneath both. By helping people understand their responses to pressure, we create lasting change that supports healthier, more sustainable performance.

Where self-leadership creates impact

Organisations

Sustainable performance starts with people who can understand themselves, regulate their responses and navigate complexity with greater clarity.

Aequus works with organisations to develop the human capabilities that influence:

  • performance under pressure

  • leadership effectiveness

  • adaptability through change

  • communication and relationships

  • sustainable wellbeing

Through keynotes, workshops and development programs, we help organisations move beyond surface-level resilience and build deeper self-leadership capability.

Communities & Associations

Many people carry patterns formed through earlier experiences that continue to influence their relationships, boundaries, confidence and sense of self.

AEQUUS partners with organisations and communities supporting personal growth and healing by providing education and practical tools for:

  • understanding survival patterns

  • Nervous system and emotional regulation

  • rebuilding self-trust and self-leadership

  • creating healthier responses and habits

Why it matters.

For a long time, we have focused on changing behaviours without always understanding what drives them.

We teach people what to do, but often overlook the internal experiences that influence how they respond.

AEQUUS exists to close that gap.
