About AEQUUS
Founded on a simple belief:
People cannot consistently lead themselves effectively without first understanding themselves.
By combining nervous system regulation, trauma-informed practice and self-leadership principles, AEQUUS creates practical frameworks that help people understand their internal world and create meaningful change.
Our work sits at the intersection of personal development, workplace performance and human behaviour.
Meet Corey Casey
Founder of AEQUUS and Creator of the CALM Framework™
AEQUUS was founded from a question that has shaped both my personal and professional journey:
What happens when people learn to survive, but never learn how to truly lead themselves?
Throughout my life, I became deeply aware of the ways people adapt to their environments, how experiences shape the way we think, respond, communicate and relate to ourselves and others.
As a child of an alcoholic, I experienced firsthand what it means to live through a heightened survival response.
I learned to scan for changes in mood and environment, anticipate what others needed, minimise my own needs and become highly adaptable in order to feel safe.
For many years, these patterns looked like strengths.
Being dependable.
Being resilient.
Being the person who could handle everything.
But underneath those strengths was a nervous system that had learned to stay alert, prioritise others and respond automatically rather than intentionally.
It was only through understanding these patterns that I realised something important:
Many of the behaviours we judge ourselves for are often adaptations we developed to protect ourselves.
Understanding this changed the way I viewed myself, and it changed the way I understood human behaviour.
Bringing This Understanding Into the Workplace
Before founding AEQUUS, I spent over a decade working alongside senior executives in high-pressure environments, where I gained a deeper understanding of human behaviour, performance and the patterns that influence how people respond under pressure.
I witnessed highly capable people operating under significant pressure, people with the skills, experience and knowledge to succeed, yet still struggling with overwhelm, perfectionism, over-responsibility, difficulty setting boundaries or maintaining balance.
I began to see a common thread:
Capability alone does not determine how people respond.
Two people can experience the same environment, the same expectations and the same pressure, yet respond completely differently.
The difference often lies beneath the surface.
It is influenced by self-awareness, learned patterns, emotional regulation and the ability to lead oneself in challenging moments.
This insight became central to AEQUUS.
