The Darker, More Powerful Side of Femininity

When I used to think of femininity, I thought of light, caring, soft, and nurturing. The ability to surrender and be led.

Being dominated by my masculine energy, I needed to embody some of the light feminine traits. But I started to notice that the more I embodied them, the more I felt like I was losing my true self.

It wasn’t until recently when I attended a Women’s Circle about the Awakened Feminine that I was introduced to our Dark Feminine Energy.

I have been hooked ever since!

To truly understand the feminine power, we must understand the Divine Feminine as a whole.

The Divine Feminine as a whole is both light and dark. She is caring, creative, abundant, intuitive, empowered, honored, wild, free, sensual, nurturing, affectionate, a rule and barrier breaker, and lives in her true authentic power.

When we fully embrace our light and dark aspects we unlock our limitless power.

The Light Feminine Traits

  • Forgiving

  • Graceful

  • Compassionate

  • Nurturing

  • Devotional

  • Pure

  • Intuitive

  • Feeling

  • Empathetic

The Dark Feminine Traits

  • Fearless

  • Fierce

  • Seductive

  • Passionate

  • Magnetic

  • Authentic

  • Powerful

  • Transformational — the death of the old, rebirth of the new

For context, some of the celebrities that would embody the dark feminine are, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Monica Bellucci, and Beyonce.

When we have a healthy relationship with our dark feminine energy, we can access huge amounts of creativity, be comfortable in our bodies, and within our sexuality, help heal the wounded feminine by giving strength to create boundaries and communicate our needs, and destroy all that no longer serves us.

Having an unhealthy relationship with our dark feminine can look like toxicity, manipulation and emotional harm to others, reckless behavior, drama queen, and using sex as control,

The Dark Feminine is the energy we suppress as we are told by society it is bad, dirty, and sinful. We are told it’s not ladylike to be seductive, to feel rage, to feel how powerful we truly are.

Too often in life, we suppress our true selves, our desires. Not saying and doing what we want in the fear of being judged.

As I naturally lean more into masculine energy, I find it really difficult to relate to the light feminine energy. This is why the dark feminine energy really resonates with me.

Healthy dark feminine energy leads from the heart, is open and accepting but is not afraid to speak up when boundaries are crossed, and heals old wounds by removing what is holding us back.

It is a powerful but kind energy, focusing on what’s best for us and all of our desires.

I truly believe we hold a lot more power inside of us than we know.

We need to embrace both the dark and the light within us.

Knowing when to channel our light and dark energy will allow us to live in our ultimate power.
